Twenty Years

What’s it matter that I love you

if you no longer care for me.

The love that passed between us

is a long lost memory.

It was me that you once lived for

in distant yesterdays.

were all possible to know,

you did twenty years ago.

With what sadness we look back on

hopes of love never to be,
